HILLSBORO TUESDAY MARKETPLACE OPENS JUNE 8, 2010
Hillsboro, Oregon – Starting Tuesday, June 10, The Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace will be back for it’s 12th season of providing a summer Tuesday evening community festival, farmer’s market and gathering place in historic downtown Hillsboro. Local musician Shaun Toman and his band the Twangshifters will open the festivities.
The Market is FREE to the public and features some of the Northwest’s best bands and local entertainment, fresh locally grown produce, flowers and nursery plants, arts from local artists, crafts produced by regional artisans, a wide range of international foods from local restaurateurs, classic, new and hot rod cars and motor cycle display, information from community organizations, and educational & health programs.
Along with our new ‘Artist Row’ on 2nd Ave, and our ‘Who’s On Third?’ 3rd Avenue stage open mic area, the 2010 Marketplace will feature several special events and celebrations, including Family Fun Nights which include art and craft projects, games and just plain fun; Emergency Services Week, June 22; Dogs on Parade, (a fun community pet parade at the market) July 13, a Beach Party, complete with water games and fun and the popular Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest; for all ages and all artistic abilities.

The Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace is governed by a board of directors comprised of local corporate and community leaders who volunteer their time and talent to assure the Marketplace’s continued success.

The Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace is a weekly summer outdoor festival and farmers’ market in downtown Hillsboro Presented by community volunteers and supporters for the community. A private non-profit organization, the Marketplace is free to the public and takes place every Tuesday evening during the summer (June 8, – August 31, 2010).
The market originated in 1998 to bring people to Historic Downtown Hillsboro while major sidewalk renovations might have otherwise kept customer away from downtown businesses. It also provided local farmers and crafters another market venue for selling their goods. The event was embraced by the community, and has become a favorite summertime tradition for people of all ages and walks of life.
